“That’s always the hallmark of Chinese culture,” Yeni said in celebrating the Lunar New Year. “Everything that’s done during the course of the New Year’s is a reflection of family in Chinese culture.”
Yeni Wong, at the Lunar New Year celebration and parade, grew up in Taiwan and remembers the New Year’s doings with a touch of nostalgia.
Yeni sees the parade and the celebration of Lunar Chinese New Year as a way for the Chinese community to showcase itself.

Yeni founded the National Asian American Political Empowerment Fund (AAA-Fund) which is a progressive political organization that is dedicated to empowering Asian Americans across the United States. They work together to increase the voice of the Asian Americans community in local, state and federal government.   
 On June 7, 1999, President Bill Clinton signed Executive Order to establish the first White House Initiative on Asian Americans in order to improve the quality of life of Asian Americans. Yeni posed for a picture with President Clinton.
Yeni posed for a picture with Governor of Washington State Gary Locke. Gary is the first Chinese American to become the governor of a U.S. state and was appointed by President Obama as the 36th Secretary of Commerce and sworn into office on March 26, 2009.
In 2000, Yeni was awarded the most prestigious trophy for an outstanding oversea women entrepreneur by Taiwan Government. Her unusual clout, though, derives from the breadth of her command and her guts in staking new ground.  
Yeni Wong is actively involved in national and local business and community affairs. She services as Chairperson of the Board of the Institute of Taiwan-America Studies (ITAS). As Chairperson at ITAS, Yeni provides strategy and vision, leadership and guidance to the Institution, and serves as the catalyst for enabling the institution to achieve its financial goals.
